VOCES Caelestes

Founded by Artistic Director Chad Blosser, VOCES Caelestes [VOH-chess che-LESS-tays]–Latin for “Heavenly Voices”–is a vibrant men and boys choir dedicated to preserving and celebrating the enduring beauty of choral music spanning from the 15th century to the present day. Established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and cultural organization in Central Virginia, the choir will bring historical musical traditions to life while making them relevant to contemporary audiences. Under Blosser’s artistic leadership, VOCES Caelestes will blend old-world precision with heartfelt emotion to create performances that touch modern listeners.

The choir’s repertoire will embrace both sacred and secular works from master composers across the centuries—from the intricate polyphony of Bach and Hassler to the romantic expressions of Beethoven, and the contemporary compositions of Clausen, Gawthrop, and Rutter. Through thoughtful education, rigorous study, and inspiring performances, VOCES Caelestes will illuminate the timeless relevance of these works, connecting audiences with our rich musical heritage.

Auditions will begin in late May and early June, with rehearsals starting in the fall and the inaugural performance scheduled for December 2025. The organization’s commitment will extend beyond performances to include educational outreach through workshops, master classes, and community engagement, fostering a deeper appreciation for choral traditions while nurturing vocal artistry and musicianship in the community.
