VOCES Caelestes (“Heavenly Voices”) is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the enduring beauty of sacred and secular choral music from the 15th century to the present. Our men and boys choir strives for historical authenticity, perfect vocal harmony, and performances that connect modern audiences with our rich musical heritage. The following audition criteria reflect our commitment to excellence in choral performance, education, and scholarship.
- Musical Literacy: Basic ability to read musical notation; knowledge of solfège preferred.
- Vocal Health: Evidence of proper vocal technique and sustainable singing habits.
- Musical Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to respond to musical direction and adapt performance style.
- Commitment: Willingness to attend all required rehearsals, performances, and educational events.
- Cultural Appreciation: Interest in and respect for the historical and cultural contexts of choral works.

- Scales and Arpeggios: To demonstrate range, tone quality, and technical facility
- Brief Interview: To assess commitment level and interest in the choir’s mission
- Prepared Solo: One piece that demonstrates vocal quality and musicianship
Selected candidates may be invited to participate in a group callback session to assess:
- Ability to blend with current choir members
- Response to direction in a rehearsal setting
- Interaction with other singers
- Capacity to quickly absorb and implement feedback
Membership in VOCES Caelestes includes periodic voice checks and evaluations to ensure continued growth and development. All choir members are expected to participate in the educational components of our mission, including workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and community outreach.
